Have you ever been watching Only Fools And Horses show? Can you remember Del Boy's famous sentence "Bloody Hell"? Well I refreshed my memory on that one when I saw these things; it was the first thing that came out of my mouth "Bloody hell, how did they do this!?" Then all sorts of things started to flow around my head - "Could it be true? Can they really somehow make those screens transparent? If so, could it be that these computers are the most expencive in the world?" Hell no, I would have heard of it before. But how? What tricks did they use to do it? Photoshop? Yet again - no, and - no! These people used something priceless to make these illusion, it's their time, patience and creativity. Now take a good look at these...

So, now you're asking yourselves - how? You probably have a clue and now you're starting to think that this is an easy thing to do. Ok, it's no magic, but it is a damn good trick. It's not an easy thing to do, because I've tried it with 19" LCD and it turned out to be terrible.
How To: You should take a photo of something in your room, simple as that. Something where you can put your monitor or even better if you own a dekstop in a position after that. Don't change anything, not even the lights. Now upload that photo on your computer to make a wallpaper. When you're done, move your monitor/desktop exactly on a spot where you took a phoo of your room from and observe. Does it look transparent? You have to admit, it's one hell of a trick!
Title: Transparent Desktops

wow this looks really impressing!
This stuff is great. It is reminds me of the paintings of the Surrealist Rene Magritte, who did a number of paintings in this vein, usually featuring a painting on an easel that has been placed at a window, with the painting completing the scene in the window.

So simple! :) I'm impressed!
fascinating!
this is the kinda stupid bullshit you can do on a mac that nobody cares about!
this is the kinda dumb bull you can do on a mac that nobody cares a bout!
I was thinking they modified (cut away the backs of) their monitors after they'd printed out desktop images on transparency sheets. I like the way they did it better. Cool that it doesn't require a bad monitor to make.
can you not just take the back pannel off the lcd so you can see through the screen?!?!?!? i will try it with a laptop later me thinks
The dumb bastard who said "cant you take the panel of the back of the screen...." Well, of course you can, but thats not going to be a working monitor is it!!? Also, its not just a mac thing... its a photo... simple as that. Dumb mother fuckers.
you won't be able to take the back off your screen so you can see through it, because you'd have to take the backlight out.. so you will probably have differculty reading your monitor :)
I love these.
Thanks for sharing.
